What You Need to Know


• Have 50% of your AA or AAS program completed and a 2.5 GPA. (Not available for Diploma programs)

• Internships (Co-op Career Experiences) (SDV 222-223-224) are for 1, 2, or 3 credit hours.

3 credits = 192 hours
2 credits = 128 hours
1 credit  =  64 hours
 
• Employers determine whether the internship is paid or unpaid.

NICC Co-op Career Experience

Career Services works with NICC students and area employers to offer internships for credit. Internships can be taken in the fall, spring, or summer semesters. 




Steps to Take:

1. Complete a Student Internship Application and submit to Career Services.

2. Sign the Student Agreement form, participate in a mock interview and review your resume.

3. Once approved by Career Services, you will register with your advisor.

4. Your resume will be submitted by Career Services to the internship location(s) or students can contact potential employers as well.

5. Career Services will notify you indicating your acceptance status for the internship(s).

6. Attend an introductory internship class scheduled during the first week of the semester.

7. Complete the Internship Goals & Learning Objectives form and review with your employer.

8. Complete a journal entry (250 word minimum) each week during your internship.

9. Attend a mid-term internship class.

10. In the last two weeks of your internship, make sure your supervisor completes the Student Intern Evaluation.

11. Within one week of completing your internship, fill out the Student Intern Site Evaluation form.

12. Attend a wrap-up internship class during the last week of the semester.
