Northeast Iowa Community College is a public, tax-supported, two-year educational institution. A nine-member Board of Trustees, elected by the voters of the merged Area One for three-year terms, governs it. The Board of Trustees sets policy for the college and hires and evaluates the President, Dr. Penelope H. Wills. The college is under the jurisdiction of the Iowa State Board of Education and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Providing additional leadership to the college are members of the President’s Cabinet.
