New Student Orientation
You just got accepted at NICC - Congrats! Next Step: Orientation
Get ready to start your journey at Northeast Iowa Community College with our New Student Orientation. You’ll get all your questions answered and check important items off the list before the semester starts. We’ve got everything you need to start strong and make the most of your college experience.
New Student Digital Orientation
With our new student digital orientation sessions, you’ll have a smooth start at NICC. We'll cover everything from what you need for your advising appointment to setting you up for success with all the resources and tech you'll use on campus.
Our platform will be unavailable June 2 - 6, 2025 due to a system upgrade. You are strongly encouraged to complete your digital sessions prior to this upgrade to avoid any disruption to your progress in completing these sessions.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kara Popp, poppk@nicc.edu or Shannon Dirks, dirkss@nicc.edu.

What to Expect at Your Campus Orientation
You’ll get started by exploring campus and checking off all the must-dos before classes begin. We’ve got you covered—advisors, financial aid, athletic staff, student life staff and faculty will all be available to help you and answer any questions.
Our Student Life Ambassadors will be available to help you find your classrooms. Don't forget to grab your student ID if you have not done so already, and show your cougar spirit by swinging by the Cougar store for some cougar apparel and supplies. It’s all part of making sure you’re set for day one at NICC.
Welcome to the Cougar family!
Remember: Orientation is mandatory for certain programs. Knowing where to find help improves your chances of success in college and beyond.
Orientation FAQs
Yes, students who took NICC classes in high school are still expected to attend New Student Orientation.
New students are required to attend the New Student Orientation, which takes place on the same day as their Program Orientation. Currently enrolled students who need to attend their Program Orientation should only attend at the designated time for that Program Orientation.
Parents and support people are also an important part of your journey as a new student. They aren’t required to attend, but we’d love for them to join you. We even have orientation sessions specific to them!
You will be registered for a campus orientation once you meet with your adviser and enroll in your first semester classes.
It is best to check with your academic advisor to confirm which orientation you should attend. View the list of dates here.
