Certain programs, specifically career or technical programs, may have additional costs such as uniforms, tools, supplies or equipment expenses. Total estimated program costs are available from the Admissions Office.

Total Estimated Cost of Attendance

A student's financial need is based on the total cost of attendance at NICC. In addition to defining financial need, the cost of attendance sets the limit on the total financial aid a student may receive. The cost components that can be included are prescribed by law.

Cost of attendance is an estimate based on average educational expenses you can incur while attending classes at NICC. The Net Price Calculator is a tool that allows prospective students to enter information about themselves to find out what students like them paid to attend NICC in the previous year, after taking grants and scholarship aid into account. NICC encourages all students and families to research their individual costs related to their educational program. Contact Student Services for resources on how to best estimate your costs at NICC.  The College Scorecard is another useful tool when comparing schools.

When evaluating the cost of attendance for NICC it is important to understand the difference between direct and indirect costs.

  • Direct Costs: Expenses that a student pays directly to the college. At NICC, direct costs include tuition, student fees, course fees and program fees only. NICC does not have college owned housing, therefore housing and meal costs vary across our student population.

  • Indirect Costs: Expenses that are based on an average amount that students pay. Indirect costs can and will vary greatly for each individual student, based on different criteria. Examples of varying indirect costs may include the difference of purchasing new textbooks, renting books, or purchasing used books from an outside online source. Housing and meal costs may vary depending on living arrangements, such as living on own, living with parents, or living with roommates. Transportation costs can vary on the length of your commute, car pooling, public transportation options, etc.

The cost of attendance charts below are broken down by dependency status (dependent versus independent students) and living arrangement. To understand the difference between dependent and independent for purposes of financial aid, review the definitions set by Federal Student Aid.
