Volunteer Tutor Program

The Volunteer Tutor Program is an expanding organization that relies on volunteers from the community to provide academic support services to Northeast Iowa Community College students. The tutoring program is always accepting applications for volunteer tutors willing to help students improve skills in math, reading, writing, science and much more. Tutoring services are just one of the many ways NICC is able to provide support to its growing population of credit and non-credit students.

Become a Volunteer Tutor

New volunteers are always needed and are welcome to join at any time during the year. The only qualifications required are a high school or high school equivalency diploma, patience and an ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer tutor, please complete the volunteer tutor application

Applicants will become a part of a pool of subject matter experts whom the College can call upon for immediate help. Formal teaching experience is not required to be a tutor. Tutors will not be required for every subject every semester. Hours will vary according to subject and need. Tutors are needed for the following subjects:

  • Trades related subjects
