With transfer agreements and dual enrollment options, not only are students starting their college degree with less debt, they are finishing their degree and starting their career faster.

Whether you plan to complete your degree and transfer to a four-year college, learn a trade, or train for an in-demand career, students are approaching their College choice differently. Students want a welcoming environment with plenty of support, social and service opportunities. You want to reach your goals and accomplish this affordably, closer to home in order to begin a career that pays well. For these reasons and many more, students are realizing their Future Starts at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC). 

Students, like Cassidy Steger, have been busy earning college credits through NICC while still in high school that fast-tracks their progress toward a degree, diploma or certificate. With her future in mind, Cassidy, a recent high school graduate and small business owner, chose to enroll in the NICC Business Administration – Associate of Applied Science program to develop her financial and business knowledge.

“Taking classes at Northeast Iowa Community College is one of the best things you will ever do, and I am already applying what I’m learning to my own photography business,” Cassidy said.

Northeast Iowa Community College also serves as the starting point for students who plan to transfer their degree to a four-year college. With transfer agreements and dual enrollment options, not only are students starting their college degree with less debt, they are finishing their degree and starting their career faster.

Kasey Buchheit enrolled at NICC after completing his bachelor’s degree in cell/cellular molecular biology, graduated from the NICC Nursing program last May and is already in the final semester of his four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Upper Iowa. Our Nursing Concurrent Enrollment Partnership (CEP) helped Kasey complete the NICC nursing program and many of his Upper Iowa BSN courses at the same time.

“My career goal is to work as a critical care nurse or continue my education to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA),” Kasey said. Financial support from Iowa’s Last Dollar Scholarship helped cover his tuition in the NICC Nursing program.
