Northeast Iowa Community College celebrates milestones and achievements of the Class of 2024

In May the commencement ceremonies for the Calmar and Peosta campuses offered the College an opportunity to gather and honor the achievements of graduates with their families and friends.

During graduation season, Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) celebrates milestones and achievements of students, faculty and the community. Every spring NICC sees the culmination of great effort, perseverance and dedication, whether it’s students earning their degrees and certifications or successful partnerships between the College and local businesses. In May the commencement ceremonies for the Calmar and Peosta campuses offered the College an opportunity to gather and honor the achievements of graduates with their families and friends.

NICC Graduation Achievements, by the Numbers:

  • 313 Spring 2024 graduates, 178 at Calmar and 135 in Peosta

    • 173 graduates earned Associate of Applied Science degrees, 111 at Calmar and 62 at Peosta
    • 53 graduates earned Associate of Arts degrees, 25 at Calmar and 28 at Peosta
    • 8 graduates earned Associate of Science degrees, 2 at Calmar, 6 at Peosta
    • 5 graduates earned Applied General Studies degrees, 1 at Calmar and 4 at Peosta
    • 56 graduates earned diplomas, 24 at Calmar and 32 at Peosta
    • 18 graduates earned certificates, 15 at Calmar and 3 at Peosta
  • 24 high school students in northeast Iowa earned their high school diplomas in May and also an Associate of Arts degree, made possible by partnerships between high schools and NICC; 20 in the Calmar area and 4 in Peosta area
  • A total of 113 students graduated with honors, 71 at Calmar and 42 at Peosta

  • 24 students graduated from the John Deere TECH program at the Calmar campus and were honored with their dealership sponsors at an awards ceremony on May 9. The John Deere TECH program is the only one of its kind in the state of Iowa and is a Platinum College of Tomorrow-honored program in the US.

  • 74 students completed the Practical Nursing diplomas or Associate Degree Nursing programs. Their achievements were celebrated at official nurse pinning ceremonies at the Calmar and Peosta campuses. The annual ceremonies honor the next generation of graduates entering the profession.

    • 16 Calmar students participated in the Practical Nursing pinning ceremony, 19 students took part in the Associate Degree Nursing ceremony. 
    • At the Peosta campus, 19 students were honored at the Practical Nursing ceremony, 20 for Associate Degree Nursing.
