NORTHEAST IOWA—The Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees will appoint Jason Norton to serve District 7.
Norton, of Dubuque, replaces Trustee Dan White who resigned from the Board of Trustees effective April 22, due to moving outside of the district.
The Board of Trustees filled the vacancy by appointment; per the Iowa Code, the electors of District 7 have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by special election.
Norton has established himself as a key figure in Iowa’s financial industry sector. He has devoted his career to advancing financial literacy and empowerment, particularly for consumers seeking affordable financial services and educational resources.
He served 15 years as the growth officer for the $1.2 billion DuTrac Community Credit Union as senior vice president of marketing and business development and champion of its wealth management services introducing strategies that enhanced member engagement and financial stability.
Norton has actively contributed to the local community as a student mentor at the University of Dubuque and as the past chair of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation, service on the executive committee for the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce and played a pivotal role in bringing the Iowa Women (and Men) Lead Change Conferences to Dubuque, fostering discussions on leadership and inclusion.
Norton’s term will expire in November 2025.
The nine members of the Board of Trustees are voluntarily elected by the public. The Board of Trustees sets policy for the College, hires and evaluates the president, and ensures that NICC serves the needs of its communities.
