The Northeast Iowa Community College Sports Shooting team fell in its second meet of the fall season to Iowa Lakes Community College on Sept. 19 by a score of 453-343.

Competing NICC athletes in the virtual competition were Kaylie Klimesh, Nathan Breska, Dylan Elsbernd and Zach Schroeder.

Kaylie Klimesh ended with the top female individual score in the competition with a 96. Male individual scores were Elsbernd’s second place (93), followed by Breska (90) and Schroeder (64).

“It was a little windy when we were competing, so it was kind of a different experience for me. Either way I treated it like a normal meet and tried to ignore the wind and focus on the targets,” said first-year student athlete Zach Schroeder.

Head coach Anthony Sisneros sees strong and emerging talent in the NICC team.

“Even though we did not come away with a win this week, we did see some improvement with our student athletes. Once again Kaylie Klimesh had the top score. Zach Schroeder showed the most improvement this weekend. So overall, I’m proud of our student athletes for giving it their all even though we didn’t have a full squad,” Sisneros said.

The next NICC meet is Sept. 26 versus Indian Hills Community College.
