Wendy Knight resigns position at NICC

Wendy Knight news imageDUBUQUE, Iowa—Wendy Knight, vice president of institutional effectiveness and advancement at Northeast Iowa Community College, is resigning her position effective on July 10, 2023. Knight has served NICC for nearly 30 years in many capacities and leadership roles, including vice president, executive director of Business and Community Solutions and as a Respiratory Care program instructor and director.

“For the past 27 years, I have had the privilege of being part of Northeast Iowa Community College. I am immensely grateful for the opportunities, support and experiences I have gained during my tenure. It has been an honor to contribute to the mission and vision of NICC, working alongside an exceptional team of dedicated professionals who are committed to creating positive change in our students, college and our communities,” Knight said.

Knight plans to continue to serve the NICC Foundation as an independent consultant through her new business consulting firm, Focus Forward. Focus Forward supports non-profit organizations in maximizing their impact and transforming lives. Knight will lend her strategic guidance, organizational development support and insights on capacity building initiatives as part of this role.

NICC President Herbert Riedel praises Knight’s years of service to the College and her commitment to its mission.

“Wendy has embraced this organization as a second home and exemplifies the NICC spirit of service and excellence. She is a highly successful professional who deeply cares about people—especially our students. The success of the NICC Foundation under her leadership is truly impressive, and we will work very closely with her as the College transitions to new leadership in Advancement. I am excited for Wendy as she accelerates her personal and professional goals,” Riedel said.

Knight has served her local community as interim CEO for Dubuque YMCA and in leadership roles for multiple boards and board chair/president positions. She teaches undergraduate and graduate-level leadership courses for University of Dubuque. Knight has also served as vice president for East Dubuque Savings Bank and director of leadership education and development for Clarke University in Dubuque.
