The mission of Accessibility Services at Northeast Iowa Community College is to provide equal access to students with disabilities while maintaining the integrity of the College's academic standards. NICC recognizes and fulfills its obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), including changes made by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and similar state laws and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities in our college programs and activities.
Please refer to The College Guide for Students with Disabilities which offers in-depth details in several areas, including:
- Legal rights of students with disabilities
- Services colleges can or need to make available
- Required accommodations for students
- Technologies and helpful apps for students
NICC provides access, accommodations, and advocacy for students who have disabilities. The Accessibility Services Student Handbook is an important resource for accessing services and accommodations. If you have a disability requiring accommodations, please contact your campus accessibility services coordinator. Coordinators are available to discuss the types of accommodations available to help students succeed. Based on the disability, the coordinator will assist in preparing a list of accommodations to share with instructors.
Procedure for Placement Test Accommodations
NICC is committed to serving individuals with documented disabilities by providing reasonable accommodations appropriate to the individual's diagnosis and needs. For placement test accommodations:
- Apply for accommodations
- Provide current documentation to the Accessibility Services Coordinator

Following placement tests, meet with your academic advisor to determine appropriate course selections.
