The Learning Centers at Northeast Iowa Community College provide services to all students free of charge. Students may receive supplemental instruction and assistance in many areas of study. Services vary by location. Learn more about the various services offered at the Peosta Learning Center, Calmar Learning Center, and Dubuque Learning Center.
Learning Center instructors work with students individually or in small groups. Computers are available for student use with assistive technology arranged as needed through Disability Services. Peer tutoring from students who have already mastered a course may be scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Online Support Available: Learning Center instructors are available via Zoom to assist students. For information on contacting a Learning Center instructor, visit the Learning Center Google Site (available using your NICC login).
The Writing Centers in Calmar and Peosta help students with written assignments for any class. In one-on-one conferences, help is available at any stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising and editing.
Students may get help with correcting punctuation, grammar or spelling errors, with formatting documents and with creating citations for research papers. Assistance is also available with public speaking, writing résumés or scholarship applications. Students are encouraged to make an appointment or to visit the Writing Center for walk-in help.
