Advising and educational planning is a collaborative effort between a student and an advisor. Academic advisors aid students in career and educational planning, explain degree requirements, assist in choosing a major, help with transfer planning and facilitate registration and academic difficulties.
Students are assigned to an academic advisor during their first semester of enrollment.
Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor frequently. At least one time each semester, students are required to make contact with their advisor prior to registration for the upcoming term. Students are also required to contact their advisor to withdraw from courses.
More information regarding academic advising can be found in the most recent issue of iNdex.
