Transfer Agreements

The following colleges have active articulation (transfer) agreements with Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC). These agreements outline how NICC programs and courses apply to the transfer college and/or program. Students are responsible for working with the college or university they plan to attend to verify their NICC courses/degree articulate.

Northeast Iowa Community College currently has formal transfer agreements on file with Allen College. Students wishing to transfer to Allen College must have earned a "C" or better grade. Advanced placement will be offered to students who have completed associate degrees in the same discipline as offered at Allen College; no remedial or developmental credits will be accepted. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Briar Cliff University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Briar Cliff University must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Buena Vista University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Buena Vista University must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Central College. Any student that is interested in transferring to Central College must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal articulation agreements with Central Methodist University. Any student interested in transferring to Central Methodist University must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to graduate, unless otherwise specified. View the programs below for more information.

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Clarke University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Clarke University must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Clarkson College. Any student that is interested in transferring to Clarkson College must remain in good standing and complete all courses with a grade of 'C-' or higher. Students are encouraged to speak with representatives at Clarkson College to verify that their planned courses at NICC will meet the requirements. Click on each program below for more information:

Northeast Iowa Community College has a signed MOU with Crown College.  Transfer advantages for this agreement:

  • Crown College will provide Northeast Iowa Community College graduates, faculty and staff a 25% discount on tuition for online programs
  • Crown College offers academic scholarships from $5k..$14k for students attending on campus programs (amounts vary - financial aid will assess each individuals students eligibility)
  • Crown College may potentially accept up to 95 transfer credits to a Crown undergraduate degree program from a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better. For Graduate transfer credit, please contact us. Crown may also potentially transfer "life learning credits" (professional/work certifications, training, CEU's, etc,) to an undergraduate degree program
  • Crown College will waive the application fee
  • Crown College will provide applied students with a free transcript evaluation

Northeast Iowa Community College maintain a formal transfer agreement with Dakota State University.  Students planning to transfer to Dakota State University must complete DSU's online undergraduate admission process and successfully complete DSU's HIA admission interview process.

Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal transfer agreements with Drake University. Admitted transfer students with an A.A. or A.S. degree from an Iowa Community College who have at least 60 semester credits acceptable for transfer and a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average will enter Drake University having fulfilled the Drake Curriculum general education requirements with the exception of the Senior Capstone requirement in the student's major(s) area of study.

Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal transfer agreements with Eastern Iowa Community College. Any student interested in transferring to Eastern Iowa Community College to pursue a degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (AAS) or Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AAS) will be considered as fulfilling all general education requirements if the following condition is satisfied:

  • The student has previously earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in a health-related field or a bachelor's degree in any field.

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Grandview University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Grand View University must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Iowa State University. Effective Fall 2019 any student that is interested in transferring to Iowa State University who do not have an associate's degree must have a 2.25 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Students planning to transfer with an associate's degree must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses.  Select a program for more information:

Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal articulation agreements with Loras College. Any student interested in transferring to Loras College must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA or better in all NICC coursework, unless otherwise specified. Students may transfer a maximum of 64 credits earned at any two year institution.  View the programs below for more information.

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Luther College. Any student that is interested in transferring to Luther College must have grades of C- or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Select a program for more information:

Northeast Iowa Community College maintains a formal articulation agreement with Mercy College of Health Sciences. Any student interested in transferring to Mercy College of Health Sciences must meet the following admission requirements, unless otherwise specified.

  • Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 on a scale of 4.0 for all applicable college transfer work. 
  • Achieve a grade of 'C' or higher (not 'C-') in all transferred health information management core courses.

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Mount Mercy University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Mount Mercy University must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has a formal transfer agreement on file with Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Any student interested in transferring to Northern State must have a cumulative GPA of "C" (2.0 on a 4.0 scale). Students must also demonstrate satisfactory performance in writing, mathematics, reading and science reasoning as evidenced by receiving a passing score on all sections of the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) exam. Northeast Iowa Community College and Palmer College of Chiropractic currently have a transfer agreement in place for its Pre-Chiropractic program. Students wishing to attend Palmer College must:

  • Apply one year in advance of intended starting date
  • Meet the required 90 semester hours while maintaining a cumulative GPA of a 3.00 on a 4.00 grading scale. Students who've earned 90 semester hours in the appropriate coursework with a 2.75 GPA may also qualify for admission to the Doctor of Chiropractic program.
  • Satisfy all other requirements as prescribed in the Palmer College of Chiropractic catalog.

Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal articulation agreements with Purdue University Global. Any student interested in transferring to Purdue University Global must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher in college transfer courses and be in good standing at the institution they are currently attending or have attended. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with St Ambrose University. Any student that is interested in transferring to St Ambrose University must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with the University of Dubuque. Any student that is interested in transferring to the University of Dubuque must meet the following Admission transfer standards. View course recommendations.

  • Recommended GPA to transfer 2.0 or higher; AA or AS fulfills all core requirements with exception of Judeo-Christian Tradition unless took class as part of AA or AS; Note: AAS does not fulfill core requirements
  • Business & Accounting majors – Recommended courses: Financial Accounting, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Managerial Accounting, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Finance
  • Education majors – GPA 2.75; ALL courses for education majors require grade of C or better; CAAP Test required; Recommended courses: US History or American Government, Biology with lab, Introduction to Literature
  • Nursing majors – GPA 3.0; ALL nursing prerequisites require grade of C or better; Required courses: CNA, College Algebra, Statistics, General/Organic/Biochemistry with lab (specific chemistry class for nursing), Microbiology, A & P I & II, Nutrition, Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Sociology

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with the University of Iowa. Any student that is interested in transferring to the University of Iowa must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal articulation agreements with University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Any student interested in transferring to University of Wisconsin-Platteville must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher in college transfer courses and be in good standing at the institution they are currently attending or have attended. Northeast Iowa Community College maintains formal transfer agreements with Upper Iowa University. Any student interested in transferring to Upper Iowa University will be accepted as fulfilling all general education requirements for a bachelor's program if one of the following two conditions are satisfied:

  • The student meets the general education requirements for Bachelor of Arts degrees offered through state universities in which the college granting the associate degree resides; or
  • The transfer credits have been evaluated and deems acceptable by the university registrar's office.

Northeast Iowa Community College has formal transfer agreements on file with Waldorf University. Any student that is interested in transferring to Waldorf University must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher in college transfer courses and must be in good standing. Students who have completed the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Northeast Iowa Community College shall be enrolled at the junior class level and will be considered as having fulfilled the Western Illinois University all-university general education requirements.

The following stipulations for this transfer agreement include:

  • All coursework for the degree shall be collegiate level curriculum and rigor.
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (C average).
  • Science courses for general education requirements shall include at least one laboratory course.
