Alternative High School

Northeast Iowa Community College is committed to meeting student needs through varied programs. NICC alternative high school programs programs offer students who have not experienced success in the traditional classroom setting the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas through flexible, individualized instruction.

Students in the alternative high school programs are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and discipline. With small student teacher ratios, the alternative high school programs allow for the creation of personalized and informal environments with attention to social-emotional and academic needs. Through independent study and non-traditional methods, students in the alternative high school programs strive to follow their individual paths to success.

Approval from the student’s high school is required for entry into any of the alternative high school programs. Currently, there are programs in the following community:

  • Elkader: Clayton County Alternative High School Program (563.245.3777)
